# Posterna > See which AI agents are really hitting your site, and set rules for each one, inside your own app. Posterna checks each AI agent and crawler against what its operator publishes (Web Bot Auth signatures, IP ranges, reverse DNS), labels the request, and applies the site's rules for that agent: allow, throttle or block. Planned action: charge (not yet available). It runs inside the site's own Express or Next.js app, or as a WordPress plugin (monitor only), with no proxy, CDN or DNS change, and starts in monitor mode, where it labels and counts every request and blocks nothing. The packages are open source (MIT); the operator directory is open data (CC BY 4.0); the hosted service adds a dashboard, a probe and a signing test endpoint. ## Docs - [Quickstart](https://posterna.com/docs/install): Add Posterna to an Express or Next.js app in three steps. It starts in monitor mode: it labels and counts every request and blocks nothing. - [WordPress plugin](https://posterna.com/docs/wordpress): The Posterna plugin for WordPress: install it, find the visitor's address behind a proxy, and see counts in wp-admin. Monitor only. - [Hosts and proxies](https://posterna.com/docs/hosts): The client address and signed host settings for Railway, Vercel, Fly.io, Render, AWS, CloudFront, nginx and Cloudflare, and how to keep health checks out. - [Next.js details](https://posterna.com/docs/nextjs): Next.js 16 and 15 with Posterna: withPosternaConfig, the matcher, route handlers and the Edge runtime. - [Sign-up routes](https://posterna.com/docs/signup): Ask Posterna for a recommendation on sign-up routes in Express and Next.js, including Server Actions. - [Check with doctor](https://posterna.com/docs/doctor): posterna doctor sends a signed request to your deployed site and reports what Posterna saw. The checks, and testing by hand. - [Counters](https://posterna.com/docs/counters): Optional aggregate counts for the dashboard: what they cover, and what never leaves your server. - [Switch to enforce](https://posterna.com/docs/enforce): Move from monitor to enforce safely: watch first, run doctor, enforce one rule at a time, and know the kill switches. - [Policy file](https://posterna.com/docs/policy): The agents.yaml reference: modes, defaults, purposes, operators, paths, sign-up recommendations and safety rails. - [Configuration](https://posterna.com/docs/configuration): Posterna's environment variables and adapter options. - [Install from source](https://posterna.com/docs/source-build): Install Posterna from a local build of the repository, to try changes not on npm yet. ## Directory and tools - [For agent operators](https://posterna.com/operators): sign requests with Web Bot Auth, test them against https://posterna.com/v1/echo, and get listed. - [Operator directory](https://posterna.com/directory): where the directory's data comes from, and the PosternaDirectoryBuilder fetcher. - [Signer board](https://posterna.com/signers): which operators sign their requests and how else they can be verified. - [Probe](https://posterna.com/probe): fetch a site as named AI agents and compare what each gets. ## Optional - [Data handling](https://posterna.com/data-handling): what the packages send and what the service stores. - [Privacy](https://posterna.com/privacy) - [Terms](https://posterna.com/terms) - [Full text](https://posterna.com/llms-full.txt): this file with the docs' text included.
