These terms cover the hosted Posterna service at posterna.com: accounts, the dashboard, counter reports from installs, the probe, the echo endpoint, the agent lab, and the signed directory files. The open-source packages are not covered here; they come with their own licenses (MIT for the code, CC BY 4.0 for the directory data).

A free service in beta

The service is free and in beta. Features, limits and these terms will change as it develops. We may change or end any part of the service, or the whole service, at any time. We will try to give notice on posterna.com first, but we may not always be able to.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub, and you are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your site keys secret. If a key leaks, rotate it in the site's settings. Add only sites you run or are allowed to manage. You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.

Acceptable use

• The probe fetches a site about 40 times as a browser and as named crawlers and AI agents. Use it on sites you run or have a legitimate reason to check. Do not use it to load, harass or scan a site, or to get around its rate limits.
• The echo endpoint and the agent lab are for testing how your signer or AI product is seen. Do not send them secrets or other people's personal data, and keep to the published rate limits.
• Everywhere: do not try to break or get around the service's security or limits, use it to break the law or infringe anyone's rights, or send it requests in volumes that would degrade it for others.

We may limit, suspend or delete accounts, sites or access that break these rules or put the service or others at risk.

No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Verdicts are labels based on public information that may be incomplete or out of date, and they can be wrong. You decide what your site does with them; Posterna starts in monitor mode so you can check before you enforce anything.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Posterna is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost revenue, traffic or data, arising from your use of the service or its unavailability.

The privacy policy and data handling pages describe what the service collects, why, and how to delete it.

Changes to these terms

We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top. If you keep using the service after a change, the new terms apply.
